Day 9 - 7/9 - When you care enough to send the very best, check the back!

Today was an easy day. The only shopping I did was for sunscreen. It was definitely made here and I was glad. I am a freak about putting sunscreen on my kids but it has so many dangerous chemicals in it. I use a website called http://www.ewg.org/2014sunscreen/ it is the Environmental Working Group and they rate all sunscreens from best to worst depending on the level of toxins in them. I use it every year and try to get the lowest sunscreen I can for them. Needless to say I bought one, came home, checked the website, found out it was a 7 on a 1-10 scale (10 being the worst) and ran back to replace it was a more bearable 3. Stuff like that just makes me nervous..

I did also purchase an anniversary card for my husband and good thing I looked. It was so cute:
BUT...
it was produced in China! Come on, even our cards. What's up Hallmark? You have cornered the market on the greeting card industry and you cannot print them here? We have paper and ink here too, doesn't a computer do it anyway? We are not even talking about sweatshops and cheap labor, it is a friggin' greeting card. This is depressing :(. I did find another card, from Hallmark as well that was printed here. So I guess some lines are printed here and others not. I just emailed Hallmark and flat out asked them what's the deal? Let's see if they get back to me. So the next time you need a card, try to check the back. Think about how much you spend a year on greeting cards, this is an easy way to make a difference.

Still waiting to hear from Mandees and I emailed a similar letter to Marshals today. Someone has to respond soon. Till then...
