I need a few things and we decided why not, we can't not shop for the whole month, we have to search out stuff. So we went to Home Depot to search for home items we needed but could actually buy. First stop - lighting! All the light bulbs in my house always seem to go at the same time. We needed regular bulbs, special teeny tiny ones and halogens. This is not where I anticipated an issue. OK, no light bulbs, Sylvannia, Ecobrand, GE, nothing. My husband was mad he could not buy anything, but I told him I would rat him out if he did.
Disgruntled, we moved to the tile section. I just needed a few peel and stick tiles to finish off a project. I find the exact match I need and there is no label or anything on it! I guess I'm good, well husband wants to get me back for not letting him buy the light bulbs and point to the box where there are all together, you guess it, Made in China! Drat! It wasn't a brand I had ever heard of, but I could not buy it. I looked next to it and Armstrong was another option, and YES it is Made in the USA. I settled for this other tile that did not match perfect, but it allowed me to stay on task. I grabbed an Exacto knife next to it And prayed I could buy it, yes, thank you Exacto.

I also needed a curtain rod, but that was a no go, it is going to have to wait.
Finally we needed a small beach cooler. I didn't even stop to look because I figured it was a waste of time. The first one we picked up by Rubbermaid was made here!
How awesome is that! I never knew and I have tons of their stuff at home. They don't boast on their website that their products are made here but they should. I'll email them and suggest it. We were done shopping and made it out still managing to spend $40.
On the way home we stopped at a craft fair in town. I figured I was safe because most of the stuff should be homemade. We could not buy the T shirts we wanted but I found something cute for their dollies. A lady had homemade dresses for their dolls. I told her what I was doing and asked her if they were Made in the USA. she laughed and said, "I made them in my back bedroom around the block, so I guess the answer is yes!" So cute.....
Sorry for no pics tonight. I have them all and will try to plug them in tomorrow but for some reason they will not upload to the blog.
So shopping was enlightening, surprising and frustrating. I'm glad I had someone to shop with who could see how hard this is. I have patience to wait for some of these items, my husband had to work on that. All in all it was a good day. Tomorrow is our anniversary, let's see how this pans out, will the gifts be all American? Tune in to find out.....
