Day 10 - 7/10. - Going bananas!

MEN SKIP THIS PART

Tricky shopping day today. I went back to CVS to pick up powder for the dog (Gold  Bond - Tennessee) and - lady things. Martha, Aunt Flo, the curse, your friend (a guy had to come up with that one), whatever you call it. No problem, I grabbed what I usually purchase and went to pay. On line I realized I never checked where they are made and good gosh, made in Canada (Always brand)! I went back to the section and grabbed another brand - Carefree - Canada! The CVS brand, Canada! There was nothing left! Finally I saw them, the brand I swore I would never buy. Flashbacks of horrible thick, mattress like items that were so annoying. I can still hear my mom yelling grab a Kotex! Get a Kotex! Don't you have a Kotex? It was a synonym like Kleenex is for tissues. The word just grates my nerves. Well thank God for Kotex because they are made in America and I am thankful.

So I promised you the low down on the banana story. My husband ran to the food store last week and purchased fruit. We eat tons of fruit in the summer so we are there at least 3 times a week. We all love bananas! But recently I have been eating them in the morning to settle my stomach and give me a good start. to the day. The other day when I did the shopping I went to get the bananas never checking where they are from. I checked all the other fruits, just not the bananas. When I got home I remembered to check and it said Nicaragua! I checked the other bunch my husband picked up and they said Costa Rica! Hmmm...I never processed this. A banana is a tropical fruit, the US is not a tropical country. We do have some tropical territories that we occupy but I checked and they do not export bananas. I went to the Dole and Chiquita websites and they both grow bananas in Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala and Honduras. Nothing American.

So I have a confession to make. I ate them...and they weren't from here. Now I have to decide, do I not buy bananas for the rest of the month or do I come to the realization that this particular purchase cannot be avoided? I have to think on this one.

Till tomorrow...this will make you smile.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhif_hPP56A.
