Day 15 - 7/15 - Shoes, shoes and more shoes

I did it! I got the kids off to camp and entered the store I avoided all last July - Kohls! I didn't trust myself last year to go in and not buy, but this year I am stronger and I marched right in in search of New Balance sneaker for my hubby for our anniversary - size 12. I avoided my normal stops in the children's section and housewares, those both are my downfall. I stopped in the men's section to see if I could find a shirt, bathing suit or even shorts to add to his gift. There was not on item I touched that was made here. I just moved on...I went to the men's shoe section and literally shaded my eyes when I walked past the women's shoes - that is an area I cannot be trusted in. In the men's section there was a lot of New Balance but nothing that said "Hi!, I'm made in America!" There were many different varieties, some nicer that others, but nothing made here. Not all NB sneakers are made here.  I remember New Balance's website saying that 25% of their sneakers are, about 7 million shoes a year. Well I was beginning to believe that Kohls only carried the 75% that is not. I kept on looking grabbing every shoe and checking the tongue to see where it was made. I was down to my last 3 boxes, praying to my dad that something would pan out. I grabbed a size 12 and it said Made in the USA, wait I got it. They weren't so bad:
They had a cute card that went with them too...
I loved it!

There were not any more expensive than normal sneakers. $60 minus 20% off and then $30 off Kohls cash! I paid $17 - a great bargain!! He better like them.

I found this website that lists other shoe vendors that produce in America. Check them out!! http://www.usalovelist.com/american-made-shoes-ultimate-source-list/

Sbicca is there (New Balance too)! I am waiting for my free shoes to come from Sbicca in the mail. Am I foolish to believe that they will really send them?? I'll let you know.

Piper sandals looks really cute and so does Manimal shoes (they are handmade in Brooklyn).

So there are vendors out there. You probably will not find them in stores but if you are interest in buying American - thank God for the internet!

Till tomorrow.....
