Day 5/6 -July 5/6 - Never assume.....

I Enjoyed the 4th of July weekend, and I did not partake in ANY shopping. Not one sale, not one website, nothing! Of course most of my time was spent at the beach, so it wasn't horrible, but I did feel left out.

So last week, before I began this, I needed a bag to carry stuff for the month. I searched all my bags - I have a lot- but nothing made here. So I went online and searched, made in America tote bags. I weeded through the sites until I found Cafe Press. I've heard of this website and they usually have cool stuff. I searched "Made in America" and Tshirts, mugs and bags came up. I was thrilled! I ordered this bag, I loved the statement it made! Here is the link to the bag.
USA bag. The bag came Saturday and I love it!
Being the skeptic that I am, I wanted to double check my investment. Look what I found....
INDIA!!!

Are you kidding me? I went back to the listing of the item and it did not say it was made here, it did not say imported and due to the message on the front, I assumed (my first mistake) that is was made here. Well, the expletives that came out of my mouth were shameful. I immediately emailed the Café Press Customer Service  Department. Here is what I wrote:

I placed an order from your store last week, # 233341158. The item was a tote bag that said "I buy made in the USA". I am doing a project where I am only purchasing American made projects for the month of July. Upon receiving your tote, I opened it up and it said "made in India!" I cannot keep this product and frankly am disgusted that the tote bag has a saying that is so untrue and deceiving! I feel it was false advertising and would like a refund and a paid label to send it back. It says 100% satisfaction guaranteed and I am certainly not satisfied with this item. I am very upset and feel I was tricked. Whoever your vendor is for this product I would like to know so that I can personally tell them how I feel.  Thank you so much and I hope to hear from you soon.

Because it is a holiday weekend, I do not expect a response until tomorrow. I will fill you in tomorrow, hopefully with their response.

Tomorrow starts my first full week. I will be posting more American companies and hopefully contacting vendors and companies to see what they can do about not carrying Made In America products. Till then....
