Day 22 - 7/22 - Fiesta, fiesta!

Since I got my house 15 years ago, I always had Fiesta dishes. I love them! They seem so retro and my kitchen was totally retro. First I had a teal and orange set that matched my 1927 teal farmers sink. When we redid the house, we switched every thing to red to go with my 50 diner kitchen.

My husband flipped when I wanted to switch out the color but honestly how could you put teal dishes in a black, white and red kitchen - they just don't get it!

I must say, in the 15 years I have had this brand I have only broke the handle of a tea cup and the top of the sugar bowl. Honestly, I have dropped a dish on the tile and it did not break. This stuff is sturdy. My mom and sister have them as their everyday dishes too and have no complaints. If you don't have Fiesta or don't like these crazy colors, they do come in white.
Fiesta Poppy - The New Fiesta Color for 2014, shown with the 2013 color chart. Please note this is an update from our #FiestaPoppy pics as it didn't capture the true color. For pre-order info and more colors shop http://dinnerwareusa.com #fiestaware #fiestapoppy
Every year they usually add a new color. This year the new color is Poppy. Which makes me smile because the girls called my dad Poppy instead of Grandpa.

Fiesta was created in 1936 by the Homer Laughlin Company. Here are some Fiesta facts from their website https://www.fiestafactorydirect.com/t-aboutfiesta.aspx

  • FIESTA®, America's favorite dinnerware, was introduced by The Homer Laughlin China Company with great fanfare at the Pittsburgh China & Glass Show in January, 1936.
  • FIESTA® was the creation of Frederick Hurten Rhead, a second generation Stoke-on-Trent potter who had become Homer Laughlin's design director in 1927.
  • FIESTA® was an immediate hit with the public and, by it's second year of production, more than one million pieces were produced.
  • The original five colors were Red, Yellow, Cobalt Blue, Green and Ivory. Turquoise was added early in 1937.
  • The shapes of FIESTA® were created in an Art Deco style with concentric circles highlighting the bright colors.
Check out the site, it has tons info and shows all the colors and other items them sell.

The best place to buy Fiesta I have found is at Kohls. You can get a place setting when you have 30% off for about $20. It is so worth it. They also carry the extras that I keep on adding like a butter dish, gravy boat, etc...and this cute addition.
A nice dip set, did I need it, no way. But is was red and Made in the USA so I had to get it!

Tomorrow I am hoping to hit American Apparel - this should be good!! Till then...
