Happy Birthday America!! I hope you celebrated and had a great day!!
This morning on the TODAY show my segment aired, it went great! Here is the link:
Made in the USA clip from the TODAY show http://www.today.com/klgandhoda/have-glorious-fourth-items-made-usa-1D79887243
I was a wreck doing it but I am so glad that I got the message out and I really hope my dad is proud. It is because of him, that I did this. Thanks Dad, I love you!
So what did we wear today? I had not one thing made here for my girls. Their red, white and blue skirts were from Bangladesh, their "I love the 4th" shirts were from Malaysia and their matching shoes were - you guessed it - Made in China. Their nails were done here and looked great - thanks Auntie!
I felt like a hypocrite if I didn't wear all USA made items today. My shirts was an American flag shirt, printed in the USA, from USA fabric BUT assembled in the DR. It was the closest thing I had. I wore my mom's pants - again - the same ones I wore on the show. I don't have another pair of pants made here!! And my new favorite Sbicca flag shoes!
I found my husband a cute USA shirt for when we went to the city on Wednesday to the show. Made completely here with USA fabric. It's from American Apparel

It's a little more neon than the picture - kind of turquoise but not really. It was around $22, not bad for a Tshirt made here. They have great stuff and tell their whole story on the website. Not all of their items are made in the USA but they own up to it and explain why. Take a look when you can.
Enjoy the 4th!! Have fun and be safe! Next week I start the emails to companies and finding more out there that I can share.
